CHINT Received Carbon Footprint Certification From DEKRA

CHINT Received Carbon Footprint Certification

On November 23, the Carbon Footprint Certification award ceremony of CHINT products was held in Shanghai. DEKRA – the world’s leading third-party inspection and testing certification organization, issued the Carbon Footprint Verification Certificate for CHINT’s three electrical products.

This was China’s first carbon footprint certification for low-voltage electrical products, issued by DEKRA. This recognition from an international certification organization has highlighted CHINT’s mission and responsibility in green energy development and has laid a solid foundation for CHINT to further expand overseas, especially the European market.

The carbon footprint of a product refers to the total carbon emissions of a product or service over its life cycle. For this certification, DEKRA meticulously checked the public areas, the manufacturing areas, and the energy consumption of spare parts in the CHINT’s three mainland electrical product production facilities and only then finally released the carbon emission data.

The certificate shows that the three CHINT’s electrical products are manufactured in accordance with the internationally accepted practices in terms of carbon emissions. They even have certain advantages as they have a positive effect in promoting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the entire supply chain of the products and achieving the “dual carbon” goal.

certification provides significant support for CHINT's dual-carbon concept

Ms. Zhang, Director and Vice President of CHINT Electric, and President of CHINT Global, said: “This certification provides significant support for CHINT’s dual-carbon concept and helps to further advance its globalization strategy”.

In 2021, CHINT released “Digital Intelligence” and “Carbon Neutral” concepts. It was aimed to promote the global energy transformation and up-gradation, to help China achieve its “Dual Carbon” goal, as soon as possible. As a world-renowned provider of smart energy solutions, CHINT has been deeply involved in developing the clean energy industry for many decades. It continuously promoted new technologies, new businesses, new models, and enthusiastically developed the green energy industry.

CHINT vigorously promoted carbon neutral and holistic solutions of green sources, smart grid, charge reduction, and new storage systems. With new energy as the mainstay, and through supply-side structural reforms, it created new standards for safer, greener, more convenient, and more efficient smart energy systems for a better life for mankind. Till now CHINT has built a total of 8 GW Photovoltaic Power Plants worldwide, reducing carbon emissions by 8.5 million tons per year.

Mr. Gerhard Lübken, Senior Vice President of DEKRA Asia Pacific, said, “DEKRA and CHINT have wide-ranging and in-depth cooperation. Today’s certification ceremony is a new milestone in cooperation in the field of sustainable development, especially carbon-related services”.

Ms.Zhang further said that a new era of green development had arrived and CHINT was actively exploring and practicing diverse carbon-neutral solutions and, together with partners around the world, was promoting a green sustainable industrial chain, while introducing smart energy into everyone’s lives, in a way that suited local conditions.

What Can Carbon Footprints Do For Us?

Green low-carbon behavior is a lifestyle guide.

The carbon footprint is closely related to personal lifestyle. It reflects energy awareness and its impact on the environment. It can lead to green and low-carbon consumption by changing consumption habits and behavior.

The carbon footprint affects the industries and their supply chains.

Its calculation involves raw material procurement, logistics and transportation, production and processing, packaging, warehousing, waste recycling, and other upstream and downstream activities, thus accounting for the full life cycle carbon emissions of the industrial and supply chains.

The carbon footprint also influences global cooperation and international trade

Calculating carbon footprint and developing carbon labels, in a publicly acceptable way leads to disclosure of climate information and helps to achieve carbon peak and carbon-neutral goals.
