Hey everybody!
How are you? Hope everyone is fine.
What are you doing during the Earth Hour?
I am penning this letter during the Earth Hour.
At this moment, I am in the coordinates of Shanghai, China. By turning off unnecessary lights and power-consuming products, I am at peace with my quiet and warm surroundings, allowing me to truly feel the vibe of early spring with all our worldwide partners revolving around my mind.
I am very curious: What are you all doing at this moment?
Are you the same as me? Slowing down and feeling the Earth Hour in a delicate manner? Maybe you are currently busy with your work. I personally invite you to put aside what you are doing for a moment, walk to the windows, look around and truly feel this amazing moment of our beautiful planet.
As I am writing this letter, I am reflecting on the past 15 years since Earth Hour was introduced. We have all been practicing hard. Although it is only a very short 60-min event, although it is only a very trivial thing that we can do, it is indeed broad in scope yet subtle. Every small action is constantly changing and it will also sustainably change the whole system. In the past year, we CHINT people have been practicing and implementing the low-carbon concept and low-carbon lifestyle.
The“Low-Carbon Mobility” team challenge organized in Spain in 2021 was unforgettable. Despite the raging pandemic, it did not stop us. With a colossal distance of 10,253 km from Madrid to Shanghai, we raced as a team – walking, running, cycling, and even swimming as an alternative to replace carbon-emitting transportation.
All the donations from the race were sent to fund training for children and adults in any families affected by stroke. We are very proud of ourselves, and I am even happier for your commitment and dedication, and I am even more delighted to work with you.
As I am writing this letter, I am pursuing a positive outlook: In 2022, we have issued a new initiative, “Choose low carbon, choose life” to make every right choice. It is not only turning off the unnecessary lights and power-consuming products during the Earth Hour.
However, it is also about what you do beyond the Earth Hour, such as walking briskly, running, biking, or taking public transport, insisting on green travel and exercising at the same time, reducing food waste, carefully and properly separating the garbage, using more low-energy, recyclable items, … … …
Green environmental protection is far beyond this one hour. A low-carbon lifestyle is much more than this one choice. We should integrate low-carbon awareness into our everyday life and constantly keep a green attitude, and more importantly, drive the people around us.
As I am about to finish writing this letter, I saw the most beautiful light on earth from the darkness of the EarthHour. This stream of light will depend on every low-carbon choice we make today!
The “Low-Carbon Challenge” in 2022 has just begun. In parallel to CHINT’s corporate low-carbon footprint certification, the carbon footprint of everyone counts. And every choice you make also counts. Please promote our concept to your family and friends and bring them along to the “Low-Carbon Challenge” to shape our future. Let’s join us and do it together!
May each of our partners be safe, healthy, active, and energetic. Use your unique way to experience and celebrate Earth Hour!
